Alberta is one of three provinces of western Canada that are often described as the "prairies", other two prairie partners being Saskatchwan and Manitoba, and vast tracts of these provinces are covered with prairie, or grassland. Alberta is a landlocked province surrounded on three sides by other provinces and has USA across her southern border.

Alberta has a thriving farming community. A rising number of people are aware and conscious of potential harm coming from insufficiently tested Genetically Modified Organisms implanted into their food crops and animals, whereby people are not even aware if the food they buy contains genetically modified ingredients or nor.

Albertans have therefore formed a number organizations to jointly express their concern and in participation of the democratic process of expressing their wish for the Governments to adjust its agricultural and food policies to reflect the view of the people.

In December 2013, they have organized talk and debate tour with two prominent Canadian Scientists, Drs Thierry Vrain of British Columbia and Shiv Chopra of Ontario, to present themselves at 7 or 8 events spanning five towns, talking and engaging in question and answer sessions to inform the people of the imperfection and dangers of the science behind GMO as well as the failure of our national regulatory system in preventing potential harmful substances from gaining easy access to our dinner plate.
